What are the best yoga poses to help me release the gas that is present in my belly?

I've recently had a bout of gastro and I am still not fully recovered yet. What I am noticing is that I am developing a lot of gas in my intestine but the gas is not being released. I want RELEASE!!

What are the best yoga poses to facilitate release???

If the plow doesn't squeeze it out, nothing will.

What are the most beneficial yoga poses during pregnancy?

Could you please list some yoga poses that are good for pregnancy as well as helping with labor & delivery? And how long should you gold each pose & how many sets of each pose or how many times should you go through the routine / list?

Asana poses are generally regarded as good poses for pregnancy. These poses not only aid in the pregnancy itself, but begin the process of body restoration after the baby is born. Breathing via yoga also aids in curtailing morning sickness and nausea. Here's a quick program which would be beneficial:

1) Half butterfly 10x per leg
2) Full butterfly 20x
3) Cat Stretch Pose 10x hold for 3-5 seconds per pose
4) Waist Rotation 10x per side hold for 3-5 seconds each side
5) Palm Tree Pose 10x hold for 3-5 seconds per.

What yoga poses are safe to do while pregnant?

I am 19 and a half weeks pregnant and I don't have the time to go to a yoga class as I work 9-6 seven days a week. I was wondering if anyone knew of any trusted yoga websites that have poses for me to do at home while pregnant.

Just about all of them as long as you don't push it.

Make sure you keep your back straight - this is very important as you gain weight.

Squatting is very good as this will help with the birth.

What do you call a set of yoga poses done in quick succession?

In high school I took yoga and I remember doing one exercise where you quickly switched between a bunch of poses, starting out in child's pose, and then eventually having to stand up into other poses.  There was a name for this kind of sets, but I fail to remember it.  So what is it called?  Also, the kind of yoga I took was Kundalini Yoga.

"Vinyasa" is the sanskrit word whose connotation in English is often translated as breath synchronized movement (as in flowing from one posture to another coordinated with inhale and exhale).

However, there is no emphasis on being quick (generally the opposite, so as to stay fully mindful of the movements), so this may not be the term you are trying to remember.

Perhaps it was someone's idea of "power yoga." Namaste',

What should we do for a mental health/eating disorders awareness week?

My friends and I are in charge of organizing a mental health and eating disorders awareness week at our high school. We are trying to come up with ideas to get students interested and educated on the stuff we're focusing on (EDs, self harm, suicide, self-esteem, etc.)

Do you have any suggestions? We are going to have things like petitions and a No-Diet Day, as well as information on resources, but I'm looking for interactive ways to get the school engaged.

I would have available on display,  the definitions of what is depression? What is ED's? Etc.  Also get questionnaires that say, for example, do I have depression?  Its great that you will have resources too. But let people know, maybe by percentage wise. How many people do suffer from mental Illness and that they are not alone. That mental illness doesn't discriminate. It can happen at any age. That it also can be hereditary.  Mention that fact that name calling does hurt.

And sometimes the people who are made fun of, it can have a long term negative effect. Let people know that if they think someone may hurt themselfs or threaten suicide that it is OK to go to a peer. Maybe they may not think the person is serious, or maybe its a cry for help. Teach that we all need to get involved. That Mental Illness is real. And to the suffer it can be very devastating.  That it is OK, to seek help. That seeking help is not a failure, but a step in the right direction.

Should the medical records of those with mental health disorders be made public?

If there had been a law requiring the public access to medical records for mental health disorders the Virginia Tech tragedy would never have happened. Also in a free country shouldn't we have the right to know that a lunatic may be living among us?

No, absolutely not.

It's already difficult enough to go to a counselor or a doctor and talk about your problems and how life isn't working for you, etc.  If people knew that their secrets would be a matter of public record... then no one would ever seek mental health treatment!

Cho had not committed any crime... and he refused mental health treatment. Even if his records were public, that would not have prevented this tragedy. What would people have done if they had known about his mental health record? Sure, the school could have asked him to leave... but then he would have gone and shot someone else..The laws of this country cannot force someone to get mental health treatment or to lock them up in jail if they have not been convicted of a crime. And it is difficult, if not impossible, to predict someone's behavior or to predict violence.

What is the Christian view of the origin of mental health disorders such as depression?

As a psychologist, I am use to having to contend with Scientologists and their ignorant beliefs about mental health disorders but I recently had to argue with a Christian who argued that the devil causes depression and as such, those suffering with depression can be cured by Christianity....

Is this belief frequent through out christians?

Emperor - I didnt realise that all psychologists talked the same...especially considering that there are different specialist areas and roles
Oh, no, not at all. I thank God that I live in a time where beter treatment is available for depression. I am religious about taking my anti-depressant because I do NOT want to go to that dark, scary hole again, EVER. I'm a Christian, and part of my depression was feeling like God had abandoned me. I exercised regularly too, which is supposed to help avoid depression. I didn't want to take drugs, thinking I would pull myself up by my own bootstraps, but then came a time when I couldn't find my bootstraps. Zoloft saved my life.

Do you learn about mental health disorders in A level sociology?

This is a genuine question, but I was just wondering if you study about how mental disorders are in our societies, in A level sociology.

I'm asking this question because, I'm really interesting in mental health disorders and I'm taking sociology instead of psychology for A level, so I was just wondering if you do study at least a little bit about mental health issues and how it affects our society.

not really - more likely in psychology

How do i raise my kingdoms well being in the sims medieval?

My sims kingdom has low Well being and I'm tired of disease ridden citizens. How do I raise the well being of the kingdom?

Accept quests that raise well-being (you'll see it on the page that shows you the rewards you'll get from completing the quest). You can also place buildings that raise the limit for how much more well-being points you can gain.

How would you propose a relationship between GDP and economic well being?

How would you propose a relationship between GDP and economic well being? Do you believe our nation could be in a state of economic well being and what measures would need to take place?

The GDP measures the value of goods and services that have been produced within an economy.

The first thing is to make it on an individual basis. 10 people producing $1000 worth of goods are more productive (and richer) hand 100 people producing $1000 worth of goods. To keep things simple, assume that the value of what you produce is also what you earn. So we should consider GDP per capita, rather than GDP per se.

Another issue is for those economies where many people work overseas and send money back home to their relatives, thereby increasing the economic well-being of these relatives at home. Hence we should look at GNP per capital which measures the value of your Nationals.

Now, let's go back to our small economy of 10 people where everyone works and in total $1000 is produced. When I compared that economy with the one with 100 people, I implicitly assumed that in the first case, everyone produced $100 or so (10 people producing $100), and in the latter, each produced $10 (100 people producing $10 each). Since people earn the value of what they produce the argument still holds.

However, imagine that in the 10person economy, one person earns $991 and the rest each earn $1. And what if in the second economy, each person did earn $10. Which economy has higher economic well-being? Of course the person earning $991 is better off than the rest, but in general? Hence we have to look at income distribution.

Once you realise than GNPpc is not the be-all and end all of well being, you would want to extend it to more indicators.

One of the most commonly used ones if the Human Development Index (HDI) used by the United Nations.

Who is obligated to care for the well being of livestock animals?

Is that non-vegetarians' paramount obligation to care for the well being of livestock animals?

If they claim that livestock is created for non-vegetarians, why should the vegetarians desire for love, mercy and compassion for them?

If they feel they have rights to impose cruelty to animals as much as they can, but that is nothing to do with you. Why should you desire for love, mercy and compassion to these animals?

Please explain your question logically!  Are you asking something from vegetarians?  Are you asking the question to non-vegitarians?  Are you saying that if vegetarians don't eat animals - then why should they care how the animals are treated?

OK, I'll take the first line of the question:  Ultimately the government is responsible for legislating minimum standards of livestock care.  It's got nothing at all to do with vegetarians.  e.g. I worked for the Meat Hygiene Service in Scotland (although I'm an Aussie - and a vegetarian)... they were responsible for creating and enforcing the standards for farming, slaughtering and processing the animals.  The farmers had to comply with these standards, and were subjected to regular inspections.  For example, If the chickens on a chicken farm didn't have enough space to run around, or they were too stressed out at the moment of slaughter, the farm would be shut down until they were back up to compliance.

What is the relationship between landscape and psychological well being?

What is the relationship between landscape and psychological well being?

I am taking a science with a lab. I have NO IDEA what any of it means! Can anyone help me answer the following questions? Before anyone asks yes i read the book and it did not get the information i needed out of it.

What is the relationship between landscape and psychological well being?

how does the presence or absence of natural beauty in your environment affect your psychological well being on an everyday basis?

How do i become a personal fitness trainer?

Hello, I am 15 years old and I am obsessed with fitness and nutrition.I have no idea what to take in high school to become a personal trainer and maybe even a nutritionist. The only thing I am taking in High School now is Food for Fitness and Food and Nutrition. What other things do I have to take to become a future Fitness Trainer.

You'll need to be an experienced athlete yourself (which you probably are, with all the athletic activities you are doing) and you will need to take some courses after you finish high school.

You will need the following:

1. AFAA (Aerobics and fitness association of America)
2. NSCA ( National strength and conditioning association)
3. ACE ( American council on exercise)
4. NASM ( American college of sports medicine)
5. A degree from a post secondary institution in one or more of ( Physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, sports medicine, fitness management.)
6. Experience (two years normally)

What are the fitness requirements for achieving excellence as a footballer?

I know that a footballer needs to have a very high level of fitness to run around for 90 minutes but could someone explain the fitness requirements?

They do things like run up and down step stairs - in a 10 storey building several times a day as well as rigorous training. There is also sprinting, running backwards and other gruelling training.

What healthclub/fitness center should one join in the Bellevue Washington area?

We are considering a move to the Seattle/Bellevue, Washington area.  We are currently Lifetime Fitness Center members and are looking for a club that offers the same amenities.  I see "24 Hour Fitness" but was wondering if that was the best fit.
To know more about Fitness.

How much should a fitness trainer charge and do you need any certificates?

I want to become a fitness trainer but I'm a bodybuilder so I focus more on heavy weights low reps. Can you become a fitness trainer just for building muscle only? I don't do cardio at all!!! and do you need some sort of certification to become a fitness trainer becuase I've been bodybuilding for 3 years and know the different muscle groups and the machines. And how much should a fitness trainer charge I hear they get paid well.
Although there is no law requiring certification, you need a national certification in order to get insurance and/or work for a reputable gym.  A national cert is once like ACSM, CSCS, ACE, NSPA.  Generally, a nationally recognized body where you must take a proctored, closed-book exam.  I say that because there are a number of certifications out there that have take home tests or no test.  Generally, they are a crock.  Expect to spend between $400-1000 USD to get a good personal trainer cert.

As far as practice goes, it doesn't matter what your fitness regimine is, as long as you give clients a workout plan that is tailored to their needs.  Generally, trainers charge between $40-100 per hour for their services.  If you work at a gym, you will keep anywhere from 50-80% of what you take in.  A full time trainer can make around $30,000 per year to start, if you are a good salesperson, and a well trained trainer.  As you develop your business, and your reputation and education increases, you can expect to make more.  If you reach a point where you can own your own business/training studio, you can make some decent money.  But my advice is that you pursue personal training as a side job.

Is it true that when you quit your job your employer is required to continue your Health Care for 30 days?

I live in NY and am qutting my job, my last day is next Friday. I heard that your employer is required to provide you with health care insurance for 30 days after the date you quit, is this true?
Cobra requires that the employer make health insurance available to you for 18 months, but it's at your expense.

There is no law that requires insurance be continued at the employer's expense. There might be a union contract, but not otherwise.

How is US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's health these days? How is his heart? Was he a smoker?

He is 75 years old and ultra conservative. It is highly unlikely he will retire while Obama is in Office.  However, if he were to die from natural causes (say heart disease or lung cancer) then Obama could replace him with a more centrist judge.  That could make a huge difference in balancing out the court decisions, and possibly save the Health Care plan!
The most reliable means of extending life expectancy appears to be appointment to the Supreme Court.
Obama seems to have dropped the ball as far as naming appelate court judges, he should have moved when he had a more solid majority in the Senate, now he has 80 vacancies that he has not made nominations for

Does anyone recall the good old National Health Service days and docs house calls?

Out he came, with gladstone bag, containing all sorts of instruments and his prescribing pad. He always admired the scenery where i came from and my mom always gave him half a dozen free range eggs for his trouble. Funny when i look back, none of my or my siblings illnesses were ever near life threatening but he came, no questions asked. Changed days in Britain in the noughties.
I remember our old doc, Dr. Betty, being called out mainly for me as I was a sickly child especially in the winter months. He was a jolly old man and would listen to my chest with his stethoscope and comment on how rattly my chest was by saying I had either lions or bears in there lol.

When I had the German Measles I recovered only to become covered in a rash several weeks later to which his response was "These look more like German measles than the last lot!"

On one occasion I remember him calling to our house for someone other than me I remember mother leaving 6d on the kitchen table for him, not a word was spoken between them and I always wondered how he knew that tanner was for him lol.

Changed days in Britain for sure now. Our docs are shut until Tuesday & if we were to need a doc in an emergency we'd get put through to one in Hull rather than in our area, who only knows the patient from the computer screen and depending on the call would probably send an ambulance to the house without even calling here.

Our surgery doesn't do night calls anymore and hasn't done for a couple of years now in fact we have to give 48hrs notice for repeat prescriptions and woebetide if you don't.

All in all we are still lucky to have our NHS in this country despite the mess it is in and I do not envy anyone who has the worry of not having insurance in other countries for their basic health care.

Are there any serious detrimental health effects from depriving oneself from sleep for two days?

Don't ask why I would do such a thing, I know it is stupid. So, how detrimental to my health would two days of sleep deprivation be.
Sleep deprivation can affect mental heath...alertness and coordination... and prolonged lack of sleep can cause hallucinations.

People who don't get a good night sleep are more prone to obesity, heart disease, and other diseases.

What is a good yoga video for beginners to use?

I have recently become interested quite interested in yoga. Iv been doing a yoga Pilate's combination video for a while, but im not flexible enough to do it properly. I was wondering if anybody new any good yoga videos for increasing flexibility. Im pretty skinny so Im not really looking for a video that is trying to burn fat or increase weight loss.

I would recommend Shiva Rea's "Yoga Shakti."

Check out some of her sample clips on youtube to get a feel if her style of instruction appeals to you.

If increasing flexibility is your only goal, then I recommend book "Stretching" by Bob Anderson.

There is also a "Stretching" dvd by Anderson, but I have not seen it.

I don't know about Pilates, but would like to comment that being "not flexible enough" should not stop you from practicing yoga asana (poses).

You do not have to do a perfect pose (or even close to it), to derive benefit.

Example, in pose Uttanasana (Standing forward bend http://www.altiusdirectory.com/Lifestyle/health-care.html ) even if a person cannot touch their toes (let alone get forehead to touch shins), you receive benefit by doing whatever creates a "developmental stretch."

A "developmental stretch" is more than an "easy" stretch, but less intense than a painful, drastic (and potentially injury causing) stretch.

If you practice developmental stretches regularly (ideally once a day), you will likely see improved flexibility in two to three weeks.

What types of yoga are best for healing depression?

I think I am depressed, and I have significant lack of interest in my work. I used to do yoga, hatha yoga, and it helped.

I want to start again. What types of yoga are best for healing depression?
When you experienced the benefits of yoga why don't you start it. Just take it easy when you start and concentrate more on static postures like Kati Chakrasana, Tadasana, Vrikshasana Parvatasana plus sit in meditative pose holding Vayu Vardak Mudra also called Gyan mudra.

The mudra is performed by simply touching the tip of the thumb with the tip of the forefingers and keeping other three fingers straight and palms facing upward. This has to be done with both the hands.

How do I become a certified yoga instructor?

I am interested in becoming a yoga instructor, specifically for prenatal and mommy and me yoga (also known as Itsy Bitsy Yoga in some places). I used to do yoga all the time and I am now getting back into it and my love for it keeps growing. I know it will take a long time, and I am starting by taking regular Hatha Yoga classes, I just want to know the steps I will need to take, and any tips from anyone who has been there.

Talk with your Yoga instructor to see how they were certified...and to see "if" they are certified, many are, but quite a few are not...

You could also look online to see what the cert process is...try doing a google search on Yoga Certification and see what comes up...

How much yoga does it take to become a yoga pro?

I've been doing yoga for a while, and I definitly can feel a deference in how I am able to move now. The guys on my yoga tapes are bendy to the extreme though. Any yoga gurus out there, please let me know how many months, years, etc. it takes to have a great range of motion, and a ton of flexibility.
It's a case by case basis.  Being a 'yoga pro' isn't about bendibility.  The fact is we are born with a set range of motion.  The muscles hold about 20% of the flexibility.  The ligaments only 4%.  So, once you've worked out all the flexibility that is being held in the muscules, you only have 4% left to go and if you go over that level, then you can hurt yourself and damage the ligaments (in other words, don't do it - don't over push yourself past pain ).

The other thing about yoga is the spiritual aspect which comes with letting go of expectation, judgement and competition.  This is more important than the flexibility and physical balance that we observe.  So, once we've mastered those inner voices - once we've let go of those things like the ego which hold us back then, we may quite happily say that we've become 'yoga pros'... but at that point, when you've conquered these ego based attachments, you might not want to be a yoga pro anymore - and be just really happy with where you've come in your life.
Write me if you have any more questions.

There were totally 15 moles / black spots on my face and body before, I tried this mole remover and most of my moles were gone right now.  But please pay attention, don’t over use in order to avoid getting scar.  Hope it works for you too.

For more information, please see the following using methods, it is very useful for unwanted moles, beauty marks, black spots.

BRAND NEW DIY MOLE VANISH WART REMOVER
10 ML Skin Care non-Laser Removal

Usage:

(1) Clean the nevus and the area around it, use a toothpick (do not use a cotton stick to tip or wipe) to mix the liquid and sediment, and then tip a little amount of the mole remover and apply it onto the middle of the nevus. The area would turn to white colour after 1 minute. Use alcohol or water to clean the mole area after 10 minutes (If you tip the amount of mole remover properly, you don't have to clean). The mole would peel off (May help with finger) in 8 to 20 days. Repeat the process again until the mole peeling off if the colour of the nevus is dark. (it is suggested applying the liquid to nevus on hands or legs first to see the results and learn to control the usage before applying the liquid to other areas of the body, DON'T TRY on FACE for the first time!)

Raw Honey and Olive Oil will fade the scars greatly. However, for raised or pock-marked scars a laser treatment or filler would be most advisable.

What are child care options for single mother when child is sick?

I am a manager and one of my employees is having some attendance problems.  Her child gets sick occasionally and she does not have other family who can help take care of them so she has to take off of work. They are all legitimate illnesses, but they are more than allowed by company policy and I really want to help her because she is responsible and reliable when at work.  Are there any childcare options for her when her child is sick?

Unfortunately unless she has family friends or a private sitter there is not much she can do except take care of her child.

But to help you, I work in HR...

If the child is diagnosed with a chronic illness (asthma as an example) then she would be qualified for FMLA in the US.  That would allow her to miss up to 12 weeks of work w/o being penalized.  The days do not have to consecutive it can be one day here and 2 days there.  She would be protected for for a total of 12 weeks off for a rolling yr not a calendar yr..

Get her FMLA papers and have her take them to her doctor to have filled out, the doctor will know if the child has an illness that is covered.

Also once she has missed 3days of work have her bring in doctors notes from the childs doctor to keep her covered from losing her job until the FMLA papers are completed.

How to give child care provider your two weeks notice?

I am ready to change child care providers for a multitude of reasons.  My main concern now, is how to tell my current child care provider without burning any bridges or hurting any feelings.  I want to be professional about this.  I don't want to go into the whole laundry list of reasons why she isn't right for my child anymore.  Basically my child is going from the infant stage to the toddler stage and I am wanting something more structured and planned for him.  What should I say?

I am assuming your child is in a home setting, and not a center, which is why you are concerned about hurt feelings. I own a center, and we occasionally lose children for a variety of reasons. One of the last ones we lost just turned three, and the mother wanted him in a Christian-based preschool, which he was not eligible for until his birthday. She explained to me why she was taking him out - this little boy had been with us since he was a baby, so we were definitely going to miss him. But she was honest that we couldn't provide something she wanted, and so we understood.

I would simply tell your provider the truth, thank her for the care she has provided to this point, but as your child is getting older, you think a more structured setting would be better. You don't have to go into any of the other reasons why she's not the right one. If she's a mature caretaker, she should understand. If not, you have more reasons why your child shouldn't be with her. Offer to bring your child by to visit when you have time, so she can see how s/he is growing - a good caretaker gets attached to "her kids" and wants to know they're growing well.

Being honest is always the best policy. FWIW, the little boy who left us for the Christian preschool is coming back next month. He never could get adjusted to the new teachers, he missed us too much! We'll be happy to have him back.

How do the tax benefits work with child care expenses? We will spend 24,000 in child care this year.?

We have 2 children, both under 5. This year we will spend 24,000 in child care expenses. I am not sure how this will work on our taxes. I know you can claim child care expenses, but how much do you usually get back for child care expenses?

You can only claim $6,000 of that and depending on your income you can get a credit of up to 35% of that

How hard is it to find affordable Child Care in the Rural areas?

Would you like the rural areas to have a custom built child safe building, local child care providers, 24 hour child care to cover shift workers, Government child care subsidised and provisions for child care for no more then 6 children per building?

The bigger question is:

How hard is it to find AFFORDABLE child care ANYWHERE?

Pregnancy Problems

One of my freinds told me that her sister had a baby and she had to get the baby examined and the doctor had to stick his arm all the way to his elbow to see where the head is...has this ever happened to you moms?
shes 6'3"...but do they really stick up their whole hand to feel where the baby is? why cant they do an ultrasound?

No, they usually just push on your belly to make sure the baby isn't breeched. If she was very far along, he or she may have been stripping her membranes though.

For more informatio visit Pregnancy Website.

First pregnancy I had a delivered early what are my chances for the second pregnancy?

I had to deliver my first baby @ 34 wks on hospital bedrest. How likely will I have to do this again with my second pregancy? Also since I delivered a healthy baby the first time, is there a chance I'll miscarry this time or will I likely have another healthy pregnancy?
With my first, my son was born 3 weeks early.  With my second, I went 2 days over my due date and then begged for an induction.

Every pregnancy is different, unless there is a problem with you physically that caused your first to be born early, for example if you have an incompetent cervix.

There is always a chance for miscarriage, but again, unless you have some physical problem that makes you prone to miscarriage, the chance for miscarrying isn't any greater this time than any other time.

It's normal to freak out and stress!  Just remember every pregnancy is different, and take good care of yourself.  That's all you can do.

Is there evidence that pregnancy causes the mother to develop an autoimmune disease?

My grandmother and a cousin both developed severe rheumatic autoimmune diseases after pregnancy, when being previously fine before pregnancy.  I have not been able to find any additional evidence of pregnancy causing an autoimmune disease to develop, but am wondering if anyone knows of a link between the two, either clinical or anecdotal.

I realize that pregnancy has effects on women who already have autoimmune diseases, but am trying to weigh the risks of developing an illness from being pregnant.

What happens is that the disease is not active, but there, and flares after the delivery. Autoimmune diseases are "triggered" and often dormant.

I have RA. It was triggered by strep throat at age 27. I probably got it at about age 23, when it was assumed I had carpal tunnels from being a pastry chef. Turns out, after having the electrical test for carpal tunnels, I didn't have carpal tunnels. I was experiencing the beginning of my RA those years back, without the full-blown symptoms I had once the strep throat came along. Now I have the full-blown RA.

Keep in mind that giving birth is a traumatic event to your body and trauma can cause an autoimmune disease. People have been triggered into RA by car accidents, believe it or not.

Will home pregnancy tests still work a few months or ever all the way through the pregnancy?

What I mean is, is what they are testing for only present in the first month or so of the pregnancy, or will they still work throughout the pregnancy or at least in the first half or so? Would pregnant women who were 2, 4, 7, 8, and 9 months pregnant get accurate results if they used a home pregnancy test?

Pregnancy tests work based upon the high amounts of hormones we have present in our bodies during pregnancy. They work all through out pregnancy.

What health care problem should I address in a statistics assignment?

I have to make a power point about a health care problem for a statistics class and include a frequency table, which means I need actual numbers, not percentages as most statistic information is portrayed. Does anyone know what would be a good health-related topic where I could find actual numbers easily? Or any good websites for health-related data?

The Robert Woods Johnson Foundation is a research think tank.  They have all kinds of references to interesting research around health care and health reform.  With a little digging, you may be able to contact some of the researchers.

WebMD is another useful source for anything and everything health care.

What health problems are needed in order to qualify for gastric bypass surgery?

What types of health problems are needed to qualify to have gastric bypass surgery? Do you only qualify if you have severe health problems caused by this or could you qualify if you have smaller health problems like knee arthritis & breathing problems? Most of my family is obese and have heart disease, sleep apnea. Would they take that into consideration? My sister had gastric bypass surgery with a starting weight at 208 and is down to 128. I don't think she had any medical problems due to her obesity.

Usually you have to have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 40 or more to qualify for gastric bypass. If you have a BMI of over 35, sometimes you can qualify if you have significant co-morbidities such as diabetes or sleep apnea. First and foremost, "they" look at how morbid obesity is affecting you, however, your family history may be taken into account, if close relatives are morbidly obese and have health problems relating to obesity.

What reputable health insurance companies are out there?

My mom doesn't have health insurance and my job doesn't give insurance to family members.

I would like to pay monthly to a health insurance company so my mom could get health check up when she needs it.

Do you know any health insurance companies that can accept low monthly payments since I don't get paid that much?
We live in northern california.

Well, if she's 40 and perfectly healthy, it's going to cost her about $500 a month to have a low/no deductible plan that covers checkups.

You BUY it on a month to month basis.  If you want low monthly payments, you have to cut the coverage - like take a $10,000 deductible.  Or higher.  That would cut payments down to maybe $200 a month or less.

The older she is, the less healthy she is, the more it costs.

Your best bet, is to find a local, independent agent, who can help you balance cost with coverage.

What is the difference between public health and community health?

What is the difference between public health and community health?

  A. Public health involves the health of the nation, and community health involves doctors and other health professionals in a community.
  B. Public health protects the health of everyone, and community health protects the health of all those in a particular community.
  C. Public health gives free health care to individuals, and community health keeps the food, water supply, and general environment healthy for the community.
  D. Public health is concerned with the health of individuals, and community health is concerned with overall health statistics.

A. Public health looks at everyone from all over. We (I'm an epidemiologist) are concerned with things that may be coming down the pike and hit all of us (like bird flu, etc.). Community health mostly involves doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals that tailor interventions to a particular community's needs, and they generally don't plan out for "the bigger picture", although they do a heck a job in their locales, since they know it better.

what website can i search for surgical procedures with surgical instruments?

I want to know what website i can find about surgical procedures and the surgical instruments they use in that certain surgery?

I have this project wherein we have to state a certain surgical procedure and place all the necessary surgical instruments used in the surgery, im a nursing student. i dont know wwhat website to look into about surgical procedures and their corresponding surgical tools?

www.altiusdirectory.com would be a good starting point for additional resources.

For such a broad assignment, I would recommend picking the surgical procedure first. I think it would be easier to research "how an appendectomy is performed".

What are the most common ENT, Head and Neck surgical procedures in the UK?

What ENT surgical procedures are most frequent in the UK (private and public). What is your opinion on the pre-operative management of these conditions?

ENT would probably be tonsillectomy though it is not performed as often nowadays.  In the past the used to take children's tonsils out straight away, now they are only removed if the child is getting persistant tonsillitis which is affecting their life such as missing school frequently.  With adults they don't remove them as often as it has more complecations.  I got tonsillitis at 18 for the first time and had it permanently for 2 years before it was decided it would be easier to take them out.

Why do I get light headed when people talk about surgical procedures?

I have a couple friends who are nurses. Whenever they go into detail about surgical procedures I get real light headed and have some shortness of breathe. What is going on with me? Am I having a mini panic attack, or is it a case of Syncope?

That happens to me to, or in my case I end up passing out.  Its just the thought of that stuff being done that freaks you out and grosses you out to the extent you cant take it... at least thats how it was explained to me.

What are different other none surgical procedures to get rid of access belly fat?

What are different other none surgical procedures to get rid of access belly fat? Laser? Shots? What are they called so i can research and find out prices.

Start eating right...lots of veggies and protein,,,skip all white bread and all sugar totally....and WALK ...preferably take walks in the morning, just drink a little water and WALK...your tummy is empty, so the body will burn fat for energy...

If you do this repeatedly YOU will get rid of  your tummy in 6 months.

What surgical procedures against overweight are there?

I'm going to do a presentation on surgical procedures against overweight. I know about the gastric bypass surgery, but is there anything else?

Look at www.altiusdirectory.com for information on the different procedures. And I would not recommend one procedure over another, as the other poster mentioned. The lap band is less effective for many people and a lot of insurance companies only cover one procedure per patient, so there is no going back for gastric bypass if the lap band doesn't work. The thing is, different procedures are recommended for different people; what might work well for one person may not lead to lasting weight loss for another. This is something the individual and their bariatric surgeon need to decide.

Are there any home remedies for getting rid of flys attacking a dog's ears?

We have a Husky that has flies that are attacking our dog's ears. His fur and flesh are raw and missing. They're getting bad and we need a home remedy to help get rid of them. They're just getting him and not the other dog we have.

We bought an over the counter medicine for him especially for that but it didn't do anything. Sometimes home remedies work better than medication.

go to vet and get an ear mite medication. its designed to limit the dirt in the ear canal, which can cause a nasty odor if left unkempt. so if the animal has a slight odor
that's cause for ear infections which in this event attracts gnats and biting fly. I'd get them looked at, the vet can explain further.

Home Remedies for getting rid of redness from sunburn?

I got sunburn badly on my face yesterday and the prom is in a week. Im stuck in the house with basic house-hold things, not much I can really grab from the store like Aloe or anything. I've got some Banana Boat Aloe Spray, just cools my face off, it is still red. Is there any home remedies that actually work? If so, could you please type step-by-step instructions to do them?

egg whites work on burns, i got burned badly on my hand and the egg whites helped take the red out. If you're up for it, put it on your face, leave it for as long as you can and don't touch it!! i hope it works, and have fun at prom  you can always put makeup on if none of these remedies work .

What would be a good major/minor for health/fitness careers?

I am most likely going to major in business and just changed my mind from minoring in marketing to some type of health/fitness career. Something along the lines of a personal trainer, physical therapist, ect. What other careers are out there in fitness that are well paying and can require atleast an associates degree? What would the major/minor be called?

Physical Education major covers all that material. Also, athletic training is a good major as well. They both cover a lot of biology (lower level courses), kenesiology, anatomy, physiology, etc. To become a trainer, you will need to take an aditional "class" (it's like a week or something) and then pass a training test (24 hour fitness will have info on that). Other careers are of course, PE teaching, athletic trainer (leaning toward medical/healing injuries/etc), physical therapist, personal trainer, that's about all I can think of at the moment. There are a ton or resources out there, it would not take a too much research to find them.

Career ideas that combine bachelor degrees in biology and psychology with an interest in health/fitness?

I am one class away from completing my degree in biology, and a few classes from my psychology degree.  I have a lot of interest in the psychology of learning, as well as health and fitness.  (I love working out.)  I would really like to find a career that combines these interests, but my advisors at college, as well as other professors, family and friends don't have any ideas.  I have taken some career assessment tests on computers, but they require you to pick only one major of interest.  And I would really like to do something that makes a difference, where I can see that I'm helping people.  I don't want to sit behind a desk.  I need action and variety. Anyone have any ideas?

If I had your qualifications and interests I think I would consider teaching.  You might be able to do some Physical Education work with troubled kids.  A different approach might be to write a sort of loose essay describing what you consider to be perfect activities (not a perfect job) for yourself.  With that essay in hand you could do a bit of polishing and it may lead you to the perfect career.  It might also show you something you hadn't considered but would be great for you if you only took two or three more classes.

how similar is a health fitness specialist to a physical therapist?

I want to know because right now i am about to finish going to school for massage therapy. i want to work with athletes but i figured to work with athletes to also be able to be a physical therapist too. i was looking online at the delta college website and it showed something about a health fitness specialist. i wondered if the 2 weresimilar to each other.

They are nothing alike.  PT requires a graduate degree and passing a national exam.  They work with all ages making people more functional.  Heath fitness specialist is a personal trainer.  On the job training. They work with the well adults.

What are some good jobs in health/fitness/nutrition? And what college courses do i take to qualify?

Im in college and want a career in fitness/health (personal trainer) but want something that pays better than your regular 24 hour fitness training job.  I just dont know where to start or what courses to take to be in this type of work and still get paid well.

Well for now thats the place to start. Maybe you can be a personal fitness person or something.  You have to start somewhere.
